Colin Farrell In Talks To Play The Penguin In The Batman

It's time for your bi-weekly The Batman update! If he signs on, Colin Farrell will join a long line of legendary actors who have brought The Penguin to life. Should Farrell's deal go through, the Fantastic Beasts actor will round out a trio of villains facing off against Robert Pattinson's Batman. In 2004, Halle Berry took on the role of Catwoman in the first and only standalone film about the illustrious character.

We already have a Paul Dano Riddler and Zoe Kravitz Catwoman (though who believes she'll be a real villain for the whole film?). After the success of Joker, fans will be buzzing to head back to Gotham for Matt Reeves' The Batman, where Twilight star Robert Pattinson will play The Caped Crusader himself.

Colin Farrell is in talks to play Penguin in the upcoming Batman reboot The Batman, according to Deadline Should the star sign on, he'll square off against Robert Pattinson 's Batman alongside The Riddler (Paul Dano) and Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz). They all join lead actor Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne, whose casting was the first to be officially announced for the project several months back.

Scott just - and I mean JUST - wrote up the news that Andy Serkis is likely to be our next Alfred Pennyworth. Farrell is no stranger to comic book villains, having played Daredevil's arch nemesis Bullseye in 2003's Daredevil. We literally just learned that Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth in Matt Reeves‘ The Batman, and now Deadline reports tonight that Colin Farrell is also in talks.

Given their close collaboration and the way Reeves like The Batman - Colin Farrell for Penguin to do repeat business with collaborators—see composer Michael Giacchino and cinematographer Greig Fraser—perhaps it's not a complete surprise that Serkis was involved in the film in some capacity.
